Éistigí 2018 Call for Papers

Life With Music

Call for Papers for the Éistigí Music Conference hosted by the Creative Arts Research Centre at Dundalk Institute of Technology, Thursday, 17 May 2018.

In conjunction with the Picteilín Creative Media Conference.

Deadline for Abstracts: Friday 13 April 2018.

Music remains one of the most dynamic indicators of Irish cultural identity and social well-being. Both historical and contemporary enquiry into music practice and product inform our understanding of the world. Increasing interaction with technology changes both music practice and outputs, providing new opportunities without replacing older practices. This conference aims to provide a platform for Irish and International academics, postgraduate students and practitioners to share knowledge and practice on all aspects of music research.  Contributions are sought from all aspects of music related research including:

  • Musicology
  • Ethnomusicology
  • Performance and Creative Practice
  • Music Production and Technology
  • Creative and Aesthetic Pedagogies

It is envisioned that there will be short and long academic research papers, practical exhibition installations, poster sessions, workshops, games and screenings.

Individual papers and papers in themed panel sessions will be 20 minutes in length, followed by 10 minutes of discussion. Round-table sessions should not exceed 90 minutes, including time for discussion. Lecture recitals should be 30 minutes in length, including time for discussion. The programme committee welcomes poster presentations, and aims to include scheduled question-answer sessions on current projects (postgraduate research, collaborative research projects or other research projects) in its overall programme.
